Mercedes-AMG E63S Ride and Handling

The E63S comes with Air Matic air suspension and with the drive mode set to Comfort, ride quality is quite compliant in spite of those 20 inch wheels. Sharp bumps will filter through to the cabin though and you have to careful with those low profile tyres. The E63S is also speed breaker friendly and it didn’t scape any of them that were encountered on Mumbai roads.  The steering feels light at city speeds too. On track, the handling is fantastic and the steering feels well weighed in Sport and Sport+. However, push it into tight corners and it does feel a bit heavy, it almost weighs two tonnes after all. Grip levels from the tyres are fantastic and brakes are great too. However, if you are one those who will take your E63S to the track often, those awesome carbon ceramic brakes should be ticked on the options list.

Mercedes-AMG E63S Verdict

With the new E63S, Mercedes-AMG has taken the sports sedan game many notches higher. They call it the most powerful E-Class ever and we can see why. It has mind-boggling performance, an exhaust note to die for and crisp handling. At the same time, it retains the luxury, comfort and features that are associated with an E-Class. In fact, it is so good that it negates the need for a super car altogether. On weekdays, you can drive it to work in every day traffic and on weekends you can ferry the family to the supermarket or the movies as well. Plus, you don’t need to worry about people getting touchy with your car as most will dismiss it as a normal Mercedes E-Class. And at a cost of Rs. 1.5 crore, it gives you super car performance for a bargain price really. This Mercedes-AMG definitely finds a place in my dream 5 car garage.
