Ford has big plans for India in 2015 and we could see as much as four new models on our roads this year. First of Ford plans to launch the Mustang in India and that could happen as early as coming Diwali. This car of course will be sold as a CBU so it wont come cheap. Ford has already started making right hand drive Mustangs.

Abroad, the Mustang, lovingly called The Pony Car is available with 3 engine options: a 306 bhp 2.3 litre four cylinder EcoBoost engine, a 296 bhp 3.7 litre V6 and a 429 bhp 5.0 litre V8. There is no word as to which model will make it to India, but word is that the EcoBoost variant could be launched on our shores.

Ford-Figo-Aspire-1

Apart from the Mustang, Ford will launch the Figo Aspire  which is a sub 4 metre sedan based on the Figo hatch. It will be made at Ford’s new plant at Sanand Gujarat and will go up against the Swift Dzire, the Honda Amaze and the Hyundai Xcent compact sedans. There will be a 1.2 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engine on offer. Additionally there will also be a 1.5 litre petrol variant with a six speed autobox. The new Figo hatch will also be launched this year and that too will be made at the Sanand plant. It will be available in petrol and diesel.

Ford Everest Concept

Finally, Ford will bring in the new Endeavour SUV. The new Endeavour has already started testing on Indian roads and should launch around the festive season. The Endeavour is likely to come with  2.2 litre and 3.2 litre diesel engine options and will be mated to manual and automatic transmissions. It will rival the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Hyundai Santa Fe and the Ssangyong Rexton.
