Nissan Magnite Ride and Handling

The Magnite ride is compliant, though on a firmer side. It is better at higher speeds. However, going over uneven surfaces at low speeds do unsettle it to an extent  and there is a prominent thud sound heard from the suspension when going over large potholes or bumps.  The firm suspension gives it good straight line stability though. Coming to the handling, throw the Magnite into corners and it starts getting nervous with evident body roll. The steering also feels vague and requires more input at times. Feedback could definitely have been better. The Magnite surely doesn’t like going around corners.

Nissan Magnite Verdict

Nissan has worked hard on the Magnite and it shows. It scores well in most departments namely the looks and the feature list. Performance from the turbo petrol engine is good too. However, there are a few rough edges like the quality of fit and finish of the interior and the ride quality. Another major factor is Nissan’s wafer thin sales and service network, which they have to improve big time as that would play a key role for the Magnite’s success. It is not going to be an easy task taking on its established rivals in the crowded compact SUV segment. However recent price leaks indicate that Nissan is planning an aggressive price range for the Magnite between 5.5 lakh to under Rs 10 lakh across variants. And if this holds true, the Magnite will undercut the entire competition. The  Magnite is a great package for a compact SUV and if Nissan puts the right steps forward, this could change the fortunes for the car maker in India and at the same time be a game changer in the segment as well.
