Land Rover has taken the wraps off plug-in hybrid versions of the Range Rover Evoque and the Land Rover Discovery Sport. Prototypes of the P300e Evoque were spotted testing earlier this year.

Powering both the plug-hybrid models is a 1.5 litre 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine that develops 197 horsepower and a 80kW electric motor good for 107 horses mounted on the rear axle that is mated to a 15kWh lithium-ion battery. The combined power output 304 hp and 540 Nm of torque for both models. The Evoque does the 0 to 100 kph dash in 6.4 seconds while the Discovery Sport is 0.2 seconds slower for the same sprint. Both model can be driven on full electric mode upto speeds of 135 kph.

There are three driving modes available:  Hybrid, EV, and Save. The battery is located.below the rear seats and is protected by a 6 mm-thick steel under tray. This helps in not hampering the off-road capabilities of the SUVs.

Coming to the charging, a full recharge will take less than seven hours from a regular home socket. Apart from this, a 7kW AC domestic wall box charger or AC public charge chargers can recharge 80 percent of the battery in about 90 minutes. The fastest charging time is achieved using the public DC charger where it can charge from 0 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes via a 32kW DC fast charger
