Tata Nexon Handling and Safety

The Nexon suspension comprises of independent McPherson dual path struts at the front and twist beam setup at the rear.  The setup is on the stiffer side here. Driving at low speeds, things do get a bit bumpy. However at decent speeds, bad roads and undulations are handled with aplomb. Big potholes do make their presence felt though. High speed stability is very good and body roll is also well controlled. The whopping 209 mm ground clearance means that the Nexon doesn’t scrape anywhere and you can do a bit of mild off-roading. The electric power steering feels light at city speeds and is nicely weighted as the speedo climbs. Braking is good and the Nexon gets ABS across all variants. Good one Tata.Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors and rear view camera. The Nexon also comes with a smart wrist band that can be used to lock/ unlock the car and even start the engine. This eliminates the need to carry the key fob in your pocket. Useful for the swimming and jogging folk.

Tata Nexon Verdict

The Tata Nexon is not just about stunning looks. Its beauty is more than skin deep. It comes with lots of equipment; quality of materials used is good though there are places where things could be better. It feels nice to drive, is comfortable and practical too. The diesel engine has adequate performance though we still have to test the petrol. It works perfectly as an urban city dweller and a highway cruiser at the same time. What also goes in the Nexon’s favour is the price. It starts at an aggressive Rs. 5.85 lakh ex showroom for the entry level petrol model and goes up to Rs. 9.45 lakh (ex Delhi). This makes a great overall package and the Nexon definitely has everything to make it a game changer in its segment.
