new-mercedes-e-class-8The 2017 New Mercedes E-Class has been launched in India. For the first time, the Mercedes E-Class will be sold in India in the extended wheel base guise. Till now, it has only been China that has long wheel base versions of luxury cars. But since China is a left hand drive market, Mercedes has had to re-engineer the E-Class to make it a right hand drive for our country. The new E-Class has been priced at Rs. 56.15 lakh for the E200 petrol and 69.47 lakh for the E350d. Both prices are ex showroom Mumbai.new-mercedes-e-class-6 new-mercedes-e-class-2The V213 (code for the extended wheelbase) Mercedes E-Class has a length of 5.063 metres and a wheelbase of 3.079 metres. This makes is 140 mm longer than the standard car. Focus has been on the rear and will make majority of E-Class owners, who are chauffeur driven happy.

The E200 is powered by a 2.0 litre four cylinder petrol engine that develops 184 horsepower and 300Nm of torque, while the E350d features a 3.0-litre V6 diesel developing 258 horses and 620Nm of torque. A new gen 2.0 litre diesel is expected in the model line up later this year. The car features a 9-speed automatic gearbox and five driving modes. The E350d also features Air Body Control air suspension.new-mercedes-e-class-7 new-mercedes-e-class-4The new Mercedes E-Class comes with a dashboard similar to that of the bigger S-Class. This includes two 12.3 inch screens for the instrument cluster and the infotainment system. The car also gets Mercedes’ latest version of the COMMAND infotainment system. Other features include touch controls on the steering wheel, Smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Thermotronic climate control, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting with 64 colours. 13 speaker Burmester surround system (E350d), Memory package for front and rear seats (E350d). The rear seats of the new E-Class LWB also gets reclining rear seats upto an angle of 37 degrees.

On the exterior, the new E-Class features all LED headlamps and tail lamps and 17 inch alloy wheels. Safety features include 7 airbags, Parking Pilot with 360 degree camera, ESP, PRE-SAFE and Adaptive Brake Lights.new-mercedes-e-class-3The new E-Class also come with a host of service packages. The standard packages start at
Rs.64,700 for the petrol variant and Rs. 94,400 for the diesel variant for two years. These packages are offered with unlimited mileage, a first in the segment. These packages last up to 10 years from the date of sale.

The new Mercedes E-Class is locally assembled at the Mercedes-Benz India plant in Pune.
