There are some events that make you realize that time really flies, and how old you are now. This is exactly what struck me when I heard about the Jaguar XJ hitting its golden jubilee. The memory of seeing an XJ in London as a kid is still so fresh in my mind to this day, a gleaming white XJ6 owned by my dad’s friend. And that’s how the Jaguar name got etched in my mind. So to celebrate 50 years of this iconic luxury sedan, we have this, the Jaguar XJ50. The current XJ is now a decade old and this special edition seems to be the perfect swan song for the car before it drives into the sunset.

The XJ got a cosmetic update in 2016. So how does the XJ50 distinguish itself from regular XJ L? To begin with it gets chrome garnish on the front bumpers and the front fenders get XJ50 badging. There are 19-inch alloy wheels that have a fabulous design and the boot lid gets XJ50 badging instead of the XJ L moniker. Even though the XJ is today the oldest car in its segment, there is no denying that it is still quite the head turner with immense street presence. The all LED headlamps with double J DRLs look sexy and the sloping roofline gives it a very coupe-ish look. How can one forget the tail lamps with cat’s claw styling. And the Loire Blue shade on our test car looks classy. You can also have it in Fuji White, Santorini Black, and Rosello Red.
