2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport Interior

Step inside and what you get is a well appointed dual tone interior, though the focus is clearly on function over form. The analogue twin pod instrument cluster is easy to read. The leather wrapped steering is nice to hold and comes with the familiar looking buttons for for the audio, Bluetooth etc. In this era of physical buttons being replaced by large I-Pad like touchscreens, the centre console of the Discovery Sport is a little old school with a host of physical buttons. They may not feel plush to touch but you can tell they are built to last. Land Rover now offers a 10 inch Touch Pro screen but that that only in the HSE Luxury trim. Our HSE came with the 8.0 screen. Response time is better than before thanks to a software update, and there are physical buttons as well. However, there is no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and that’s a bummer.  While the overall cabin is a combination of luxury and utility, some plastics like those around the gear console and the power window switches feel low on quality. Other goodies that you get include configurable ambient lighting with five colours, full glass panoramic sunroof and a superb 380W Meridian sound system with 10 speakers and a dual channel sub woofer.

The front seats offer great support and are comfortable. You can also adjust the lumbar as well. While the seats come with electric adjust, the memory feature is absent. The rear seats offer adequate comfort but back support could have been better. There is no shortage of knee room and head room though. The Discovery Sport is offered with the 5+2 seat configuration in higher variants. However, the third row is far from useful, and in this case not even for kids. You sit with you knees up and that’s not a comfortable position to be, not even for a few minutes. The third row is best kept folded for to utilize luggage space.
