The 2019 Toyota Hybrid Camry has launched in India at an introductory price of Rs. 36.95 lakh ex showroom all India. This is the eighth generation of the sedan.

The new Camry hybrid is built on Toyota’s TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, that has allowed for lower centre of gravity. On the exterior, it featured LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, LED fog lamps, electrically adjustable Hydrophilic ORVMs, chrome trims on doors and door handles and tail lamps with LED brake lights along with rear fog lamp.

The interior features beige leather upholstery with metallic accents and Onyx Garnish in the cabin. Features of the new Camry include three zone climate control, electric sunroof, power sunshade for the rear windshield, power recline for rear seats, 10 way power adjust for front seats with memory and ventilation, wireless charging, 10 inch heads-up display, Rear Armrest with Touch-control switches for Audio, Rear Recline, Rear Sun Shade and A/C, 9 speaker JBL sound system and power adjust for the steering wheel (tilt and telescopic).

The Camry Hybrid is powered by a 2.5 litre four cylinder petrol engine developing 178 horsepower and 221 Nm of torque. It is paired with an electric motor putting out 120 horsepower with the car having a combined output of 218 horsepower. Transmission duties are handled by a CVT automatic gearbox. Toyota claims fuel efficiency figures of 23.27 kpl for the Camry Hybrid.

Safety features include 9 airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Brake Hold function, Impact sensing fuel cut off, Vehicle Stability and Traction Control.

The new Toyota Camry Hybrid rivals the Honda Accord Hybrid, Volkswagen Passat and the Skoda Superb in the Indian market
