Mercedes-Benz has been in India for over 25 years now and has come up with many firsts when it comes to our market. Even when it came to the mega AMGs the car maker has offered a buffet of models for the enthusiast to choose from. And recently, Mercedes-Benz India did something that I would have never imagined. I was still pinching myself when it announced that they would commence local assembly of AMG models in India at the Pune plant. This move also makes AMG models more affordable and in turn will bring in more numbers, as well as making it a win-win for both, the customer and Mercedes-Benz. And that is what makes the car you see on these pages very special. This is the 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe and it is the first AMG model to roll off the assembly line in India. I got the chance to spend a weekend with this “Made in India” AMG ( feels so nice to say that) and explore more while driving it around.

2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe Exterior

The GLC43 Coupe retains the overall silhouette of the standard GLC Coupe but has gone under the AMG knife. The large Panamericana front grille looks imposing and you get an aggressively styled front bumper as well. There are sexy looking 20 inch alloy wheels, large side steps, a redesigned rear bumper, new diffuser and quad exhausts. The standout is obviously the sloping roofline that ends in a boot lid spoiler. In my opinion, the best way to view the GLC43 Coupe is from the rear three quarter. And the Selenite Grey Magno paint finished gives this SUV Coupe a very sinister look.
