By now you already know that the Volkswagen Group has done away with diesels for India in the BS6 era and its only going to be petrol motors from now on. Going into 2020, the Polo and the Vento come with a single 1.0 litre TSI engine choice compared to an array of engines that were offered earlier. We have already driven this engine in the Polo and the Skoda Rapid TSI and came away very impressed. So we thought of going for a third go with this engine, this time in the Vento sedan. So what does the 2020 Volkswagen Vento TSI feel like to drive? Read on

2020 Volkswagen Vento TSI Exterior

Nothing has really changed on the Volkswagen Vento since the 2019 facelift. The Vento has always had this understated typical European design that I have always liked. The facelift changes include a GTI style front bumper, LED headlamps with LED daytime running lamps and 16 inch multi spoke alloy wheels. And since the test car was the limited TSI edition, it also features a black contrast roof, black mirrors, a black boot spoiler and body decals.

2020 Volkswagen Vento TSI Interior

The story is the same on the inside. The interiors are identical to last year’s facelift. The cabin is well built and everything has a lasting feel to it. Quality of material all around is top notch. The flat bottom steering is something that I love and what im used to, since my daily driver is a Polo GT TSI. While I personally like the minimalistic and clean design layout of the interior, it does look dated if you compare it to what is on offer from the competition today.  The touchscreen is small, but comes with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. There is only one USB port that is part of the infotainment system, and in today’s age of car connectivity tech, this clearly shows the Vento’s age. The touchscreen is easy to use and there’s also a rear view camera. But features like a sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated seats are missing, which are even offered on premium hatchbacks today. The Vento also comes with only two airbags and curtain airbags should definitely have be part of standard equipment in a sedan at this price point.

The front and rear seats offer good comfort and support and four people can sit without any bother. A passenger at the rear in the middle will feel uncomfortable thanks to the floor hump in the centre. Boot space is generous and hauling around luggage is never going to be a problem.
