The updated 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs, 63.6 lakh ex showroom. As before the E-Class will come in long wheelbase configuration It is being offered in 5 variants and 3 engine options.

On the exterior, the new E-Class gets new design headlamps and a front bumper. it gets a wider three slat chrome grille and chrome elements for he fog lamp housings. At the rear it gets reworked LED tail lamps, that look similar to those on the new S-Class and a new rear bumper. It also gets new design alloy wheels.

The E350d will be available in the AMG Line variant. Here you get a front grille with diamond studs, sport 18 inch alloy wheels, AMG style front and rear bumpers and beige-tropez blue upholstery on the interior. The paint shades on offer include Polar White, Obsidian Black, High-Tech Silver and Mojave Silver. Additionally, elenite Grey and Designo Hyacinth Red shades will also be on offer for a limited period of time.

On the interior, the update E-Class gets twin 12.3 inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The steering wheel is new and the centre armrest at the rear gets a tablet that can be used to operate the infotainment. The features list includes the MBUX infotainment with Mercedes Me Connect, Android Auto, Apple Car Play, Burmester Sound System, reclining rear back rest, 3 zone climate control, 2 wireless chargers, panoramic sunroof, air suspension and soft closing doors.

The safety kit comprises of seven airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, ESP, traction control, 360 degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and ISOFIX.

The updated E-Class comes with three engine options. These include a a 197 horsepower, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol in the E 200; a 194 hp, 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel in the E 200d and a 3.0-litre, straight-six diesel in the E 350d that puts out 286 horses. All engines come mated to a 9 speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class goes up against the BMW 5-Series, Volvo S60, Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF in the Indian market.
