The Q models from Audi have enjoyed a lot of success in India right from the time the first Q7 launched on our shores. The Q7 immediately became popular and was the choice of luxury SUV buyers, not to mention the Bollywood brigade. The Q5 and the more compact Q3 that came later also did well for themselves. With the new gen Q7 and Q5 already reaching Indian shores and the new Q3 in the pipeline, the car maker from Ingolstadt decided to bring in the baby of the Q club to India, the Audi Q2. Is it good enough to replicate the success of its bigger siblings? We spent a couple of days with it and here’s what we thought.

Audi Q2 Exterior

What sets the Q2 apart from the other Q SUVs is its styling. While it doesn’t look imposing, it does have a distinct character of its own. That said, the compact dimensions tilt it more towards crossover than outright SUV. The front features a single frame octagonal grille flanked by LED headlamps with integrated T shaped daytime running lamps. The bonnet has been nicely sculpted to give the Q2 the SUV stance. On the side, the flared out wheel arches compliment the styling well and the 17 inch alloy wheels have a subtle design. The sloping roofline gives a coupe-ish feel and the thick black C-pillar is a stand out. The rear has a clean look with LED tail lamps, the design of which reminds me of those on the Volkswagen Polo. There is an integrated roof spoiler and the top part of the tail gate bulges out giving a muscular feel to the rear. Over all the design of the Q2 is typical Audi. It isn’t loud and will be appreciated by those who like clean understated design. I am one of them. I also like there is no use of chrome anywhere.
