Audi has launched an updated version of their armoured limousine, the A8 L Security at a price of Rs. 9.15 crore ex showroom Delhi.
The Audi A8 L Security luxo barge will give company to the R8 at the Auto Expo. It comes equipped with the highest VR 9 level ballistics protection as per the latest ERV 2010 guidelines for its occupants. It can withstand 7.62x51mm rifle rounds among other weaponry on multiple areas of the body from various angles. Standard security features include an armoured communication box in the boot, a intercom with loud speaker in the grille with microphones on the interior and exterior and selective door unlocking. It also comes with emergency exist system, a fire extinguisher and emergency fresh air system. The car also features the security start system where the driver can start the car remotely by radio signal. The A8 L Security also weighs low despite being armoured thanks to the extensive use of aluminium in its construction.
The A8 L Security is offered with a choice of two engines. There is a 4.0 litre TFSI bi turbo V8 petrol engine that develops 435 horsepower and 600 Nm torque. The other engine is a naturally aspirated W12 FSI petrol engine good for 500 horsepower and 625 Nm, of maximum torque. The top speed of the car is limited to 210 kph and the car is shof with special run flat tyres. The car features Audi’s quattro all wheel drive system.
The Audi A8 L Security rivals the Mercedes S600 Guard in India.
