The German carmaker, BMW, has taken covers off the second-generation 4-series. This 2-door car is based on the CLAR platform, which also underpins the new 3-series sedan. BMW aims to differentiate this model from the regular 3-series sedan, With a rather bold design, highlighted by the enormous kidney-shaped grille upfront. While currently, the car is available with a multitude of engine options to choose from, expect BMW to reveal an M variant of the car as well in the near future, replacing the current generation M4.

In international markets, the car will be available in the 184 hp 420i, 258 hp 430i and 374 hp 440i avatars, all of which use a petrol-powered engine. For customers who would prefer an oil burner, BMW is offering a 190 hp 420d, while more powerful 430d and 440d variants will join along as well. BMW will also offer the choice of all-wheel drive for customers opting for the 430i and 420d, while the range-topping models will have it as standard. All the variants of the car will get an 8-speed gearbox, however, the M sport package will offer a sport gearbox which will not only make gear shifts quicker but also add launch control functionality.

On the inside, the 4-series feels like a typical BMW, with a layout similar to its sibling the 3-series. The car will come equipped with the latest iDrive infotainment system, with features like gesture control. The driver too, will look into a crisp display, behind the steering wheel providing a plethora of information. While the previous generation 4-series was offered in India in only the top of the line M4 avatar, time will tell if the manufacturer decides to bring the regular 4-series coupe in India.
