Isuzu has announced that it will ceasing production of BS 4 vehicles by the end of December 2019. As the the deadline for the BS6 gets closer, car makers are making the transition  to the new norms.

Isuzu has stated that post the BS6 switch, ex showroom prices of the D-Max V-Cross pickup and MU-X SUV will go up by Rs. 3 to 4 lakh and those of the D-MAX Regular Cab and D-MAX S-CAB by Rs. 1 to 1.5 lakh.

Capt. Shankar Srinivas, the Company spokesperson said, “There is an air of uncertainty prevailing amongst vehicle buyers in the country. As per the government announcement, BS-IV vehicles purchased on or before 31 March 2020 will continue to run even after implementation of BS-VI norms coming in force from April 2020. ISUZU would like to notify its new and existing customers about the price hike next year and urge its customers to make appropriate vehicle purchase decisions whilst availing scheme benefits that come with the range of ISUZU utility vehicles.”

The D-Max V-Cross is a full size lifestyle pick up that has become popular among Indian buyers.  It comes with a host of creature comforts and massive cargo space. Engines options include a 2.5 litre diesel with manual gearbox and a 1.9 litre diesel engine mated to an automatic gearbox. The V-Cross gets four wheel drive with low range as well. Isuzu recently introduced a facelift version in the Indian market.

The MU-X is a full size body on frame seven seater SUV that comes with a 3.0 litre diesel engine putting out 177 hp mated to a 5 speed automatic gearbox. It comes with both 4×2 and 4×4 variants. Rivals to the MU-X include the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Mahindra Alturas G4.
