Ignis, the jazzy cute hatch from Nexa’s stables has crossed sales figures of 1 lakh units two years since its launch, reports Maruti Suzuki.

When the car was launched, it was offered in 4 variants and had some rather lovely options such as LED DRLs, projector lamps, smartphone compatible touchscreen infotainment, and a myriad of roof vinyl to choose from. Dual airbags, ABS and EBD to take care of you, with the Isofix child seat for your toddler’s safety.

The 2019 Ignis gets a small makeover both interior and exterior wise. Roof rails will be offered on the high-end variants, whereas rear parking sensors, passenger seatbelt reminder and speed alerts shall become standard across the range.

The K12B 1.2-litre petrol motor powering the car remains the same, coming mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT transmission, making 83 horses and 113 torques. However, we expect to see a BS-VI compliant engine pretty soon.

The Ignis is positioned against the Ford Freestyle and the Mahindra KUV 100NXT in the Indian market, and is by no means selling like hot cakes for Maruti, but does hold up well against the competition.
