The Trail Survivor course also gives you an insight into vehicle recovery. It was fantastic to learn about a winch and its workings. Manish explained the various parts and functions of a winch and along with Bhosle Sir, also shared some important safety tips to keep in mind during recovery. This was followed by a live demonstration of how to recovery a vehicle from a sticky situation. Apparently the Global Explorer advanced course has a Jeep recovery exercise for the participants as part of the curriculum. Now that sounds very interesting indeed.
The last obstacle of the day involved driving the Thar through a series of deep potholes filled with slush. This task showcased the axle articulation of the Thar. At any given point your one wheel is always airborne. With expert guidance from Bhosle Sir, this was completed without any hiccup.
After spending the weekend at the Mahindra Adventure Off-Road Training Academy, we have become off-roading fans for life. There so much technique involved in this just as any other motorsport. The sense of achievement that you get after completing the course is second to none. And the certificate that you are presented with after course completion just boosts that sense of pride a few more notches. Not to mention, what a capable machine the Mahindra Thar is. Our repect for this machine has gone up multiple fold. Whether you own a 4×4 or not, if you are an automobile enthusiast, you have to give this a try. It’s an experience of a life time.
