Maruti has launched the Baleno Alpha CVT at Rs. 8.34 lakh ex showroom Delhi. The Baleno was earlier available with the CVT gearbox only in the lower Delta trim level at launch in 2015 and later was introduced in the Zeta trim as well last year.

The Baleno Alpha CVT gets all the features along with the convenience of an auto box. These include the SmartPlay touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink, projector headlamps, reverse camera, auto headlamps, keyless entry and push button start.

Maruti has sold 2,00,000 units of the Baleno since launch. The share of automatic gearbox equipped cars in the company’s model range has risen to 11 % in 2016-17 from 6 % in 2014-15. Maruti plans to sell 3,00,000 cars equipped with an automatic gearbox by the year 2020, from the 1,50,000 units at present.

The Baleno Alpha CVT is powered by a 1.2 litre petrol engine that develops 84 horsepower and 115 Nm of torque.
