The Mercedes-Benz EQC 4Matic has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 99.30 lakh ex showroom India. This is an introductory price for the first 50 units. A Wallbox charger is also included in the price.  The EQC is the first electric vehicle from the German car maker to launch in India as part of the EQ sub brand.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC is powered by two asynchronous electric motors, one mounted on the front axle and the other on the rear axle. This essentially makes the EQC an all wheel drive, thus justifying the 4Matic suffix. While the front motor is focused on efficiency, the rear works on offering performance on tap. Together, both the motors put out a healthy 408 hp and 760 Nm of torque. The EQC drives as a FWD when moving in a sedate manner. Mercedes claims a 0 to 100 kph timing of 5.1 seconds.

The EQC400 comes with an 80kWh Lithium-ion battery that powers the electric motors. It comes with a cooling system to control battery temperature, and a housing with crash structure to protect the battery pack in case of a side impact during an accident. Mercedes-Benz is offering an 8 year/160,000 km warranty cover on the battery pack.

The feature list includes LED headlamps and tail lamps, two 10.25 inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, MBX infotainment with EQ sub menu, 64 colour ambient lighting, sunroof, three zone climate control, massage and heating function for front seats, and a sweet sounding Burmester sound system. The EQC comes with 500 litres of boot space which can be increased by dropping the rear seats.

The safety kit on the EQC400 includes 7 airbags, PRE-SAFE, ESP, Active Brake Assist, Attention Assist and Blind Spot Assist.

Mercedes-Benz is offering an 8 year or 1,60,000 km warranty cover for the battery of the EQC. There is also a charging infrastructure of 100+ charging locations across 48 Indian cities.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC will be available in Mercedes-Benz showrooms in six cities for now – Mumbai, Delhi,Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. Orders for the EQC can also be placed online through the car maker’s online sales portal.
