Mercedes Benz India has started local production of the C220 CDI diesel at its plant in Chakan Pune, three months after the car made its India debut. The ‘Made in India’ C220 CDI gets up to 60 percent localised content. The C220 CDI Style variant is priced at Rs. 37.90 lakh while the Avantgarde can be yours for Rs. 39.90 lakh ex showroom Delhi.

Power comes from a 2.1 litre four cylinder diesel engine that puts out 168 bhp between 3000-4200 rpm with max torque of 400 Nm coming at 1400-2800 rpm. The engine is mated to Mercedes’ 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic gearbox. 0 to 100 comes up in a claimed 7.4 seconds and the C220 will so a top speed of 233 kph.
