MG Gloster Interior

Open the door, and once you step inside, you will feel as if you are in the living room of an apartment. The cabin and dashboard comes finished in tan leather with double stitching , which is a personal favorite and the black also adds a nice contrast. It also gets brushed aluminum surfaces at places which feel premium. The steering wheel is a flat bottom unit that feels nice to hold but comes with a lot of buttons. There is an 8 inch display in the instrument cluster surrounded by the an analogue tachometer and speedometer. They get a red outline and while they look modern, I prefer traditional round dials. The 12.3 inch touchscreen sits flush in the centre and the design reminded me of the screens seen in recent BMWs. The iSmart connectivity offers 70 features on the Gloster and these include functions like remotely starting the car, opening the sunroof, setting the temperature and even personalization. The system can also receive Over the Air Updates. It also comes with an onboard e-Sim, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and built in Gaana App to suit your music needs. Even songs can be searched via voice commands. There are also weather updates and navigation sourced from MapmyIndia . What is also useful in this big SUV is the 360 degree camera. What’s cool is that the feed changes according to the direction you are moving. Camera resolution is something that could have been better though. The touchscreen is bright and has nice graphics too, but needs more than a feather finger touch to respond.

Other goodies include three zone climate control, wireless charging for smartphones, 12 speaker sound system, 12 colour ambient lighting and tyre pressure monitor.

The front seats are large and have fantastic support. They also come finished in tan leather and while they get electric adjust, the front passenger seat cannot be adjusted for height. That said, the driver’s seat also gets memory, ventilation and massage functions. The second row features captain seats which are a delight. There’s acres of legroom and headroom and the large panoramic sunroof makes the cabin very airy. The Gloster also comes in a 7 seater configuration on the lower trims and our test car was the range topping Savvy variant. Moving on, it’s the third row that makes for a nice surprise. Two full size adults can comfortably sit with enough space around. Brownie points to the Gloster for that. However, all three rows up does eat into boot space. The third row occupants do get AC vents, cup holders and 12V charging sockets. And of course flipping the third row down will open up lots of cargo space. The Gloster comes with a powered tail gate and hands free opening. There’s also a luggage cover that can be stowed away in the boot floor.
