SsangYong motors, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mahindra has unveiled the facelifted Tivoli compact SUV in Korea. This version was also spied testing on Indian roads a few months ago.
The Tivoli facelift receives both aesthetic and functional changes. On the mechanical front, the car is powered by a new 1.5-litre petrol mill that comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard. While performance figures have not been released, it is speculated that the engine will make 160 hp and 280 Nm of torque.
Coming to the aesthetics, there is mild restyling upfront, with changes being made to the grill and headlamps. The front bumper now incorporates large air intakes. Significant changes have been made to the rear, with the tailgate receiving bold contours and the tail lamps and rear bumper receiving updates as well.
Inside the cabin, the dashboard now comprises of a 10.25” digital screen for an instrument cluster, along with a 9” display, that delivers touch-enabled infotainment. Inclusion of soft-touch materials imparts a premium feel to the cabin.
SsangYong stopped selling vehicles directly in India after the Rexton received not so enthusiastic responses from customers. However, Mahindra’s cars such as the Alturas G4 and the XUV 300 share platforms with SsangYong’s G4 Rexton and the outgoing Tivoli respectively.
