The Suzuki Jimny created quite a stir when it was globally unveiled in 2018. And the compact off-road has made its first appearance on India soil at the Auto Expo 2020. And with the Gypsy (second gen Jimny) having had a cult following in India, its not surprising that the Jimny is one of the stars of the show.

The Jimny that you see in these pictures is the fourth gen model and comprises of a robust body on frame construction. It comes with 4 wheel drive as standard. Powering the Jimny is Suzuki’s K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine that develops 102 horsepower, 140 nm torque and comes with the option of a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The Jimny also comes with a 600 cc turbo petrol engine in the Japanese domestic market.

While there is a huge interest in the Jimny in India, there is no clarity yet if the model will be eventually launched in India. The showcase at the Expo is to see market response and a final call will be taken at a later date. The price will be a major factor if the Jimny is considered for launch.
