Tata Altroz DCA Exterior & Interior

There are no changes to the Altroz in terms of styling. It gets this new Opera Blue paint shade that you see on this test car and it looks smashing. Apart from that, you get the DCA badge on the tailgate. The interior too is largely unchanged. The instrument cluster is now updated to show the AT gearbox modes. There are no physical buttons to operate the touchscreen and there is a nice Altroz lettering on the dash below the AC vents. As far as features go, it has a good equipment list but misses out on stuff like an auto dimming mirror, sunroof, wireless charging etc. that have a become a norm today in this segment.

Tata Altroz DCA Verdict

The Altroz was already a brilliant all round package and the addition of the automatic has made the range complete. Tata has done well to bring a modern gearbox to its premium hatchback in a sea of CVTs and AMTs. What’s also good is that the AT is offered across multiple variants including the Dark Editions which gives a wide choice . Prices start at Rs. 8.10 lakh and go up to Rs. 9.60 lakh which are rather competitive considering you get a dual clutch transmission. That said, the engine is still not a strong point and leaves you wanting more. And while the gearbox is good and works well, it could be better is terms of overall smoothness. The VW DSG still has that edge. Also long term reliability of the gearbox will only be known over time. I’m also expecting this gearbox to make its way into other Tata cars in the future as well.

So if you are looking for a safe premium hatchback for the city, the Altroz DCA with its stunning looks, space, good feature list, nice price and the convenience of an automatic is surely a serious contender and worth a look.
