There are cars which look good in certain colours , there are cars which look good at certain angles and then there is the Tata Altroz which looks good in every colour and angle viewed from. The Tata Altroz was unveiled as the 45X concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. We got drove the car in mid-December 2019 at Jaisalmer and it left us mighty impressed. You can read the detailed review here.

Exterior

We were sold when we first saw the 45X concept and the same feeling continued when we saw the production model. The same reaction was noticed when we drove around in the city. Due to the countrywide lockdown, not many Altroz were delivered in that time period, that translated into curiosity of the people when they saw it on road. It truly turns heads especially in this Downtown Red paint shade. The Altroz get dual tone treatment at the rear, the boot lid, tail lamps surrounding area and spoiler get a black finish. The car looks sporty and the door handles on C-Pillar instead of the conventional place really gives it a 2-door car look. An aggressive front, sporty side profile and dual tone rear make it a complete car by design. After gazing at it for minutes we couldn’t find any faults, it’s a winner from the word go.

Interior and Space

All the four doors of the Tata Altroz open at a 90 degree angle and that makes ingress and egress very easy. The dashboard speaks Tata’s current design language. It looks refreshing with a 7.0-inch infotainment system sitting on top and over call quality is top notch barring for few places. The infotainment system offers Apple Car Play, Android Auto, Reverse Camera and great sounding Harman sound system. Hence makes your office drive or weekend drives pleasurable. The  Altroz offers what a modern generation person would love to have like power windows, ambient lighting, climate control, adjustable and folding mirrors, start-stop button, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, LED Drls. The flat bottom steering is nice to hold and looks sporty too. The instrument cluster is a segment first semi digital unit . On the left is the RPM, MID, Fuel and Temperature gauge are digital whereas the speedometer on the right is analog. It takes a little while to adjust but we feel the other way around would have been nice. The stalks and steering buttons are of good quality.

The front seats are comfortable and one can quickly find the right driving position, and adjustable armrest is a nice and useful addition.  The rear seats are wide, and can easily seat three. The flat floor means the office mate sitting in the middle wont ruin either side sitting mates’ shoe polish after all. The rear passengers also get their set of AC vents for those hot days. The Altroz offers 345 litres of boot space and extended weekend luggage problems are well sorted.
