Tata Altroz Interior

All four doors of the Tata Altroz open to 90 degrees and that allows for easy ingress and egress. Once you get inside the cabin, you are greeted by a dashboard that speaks Tata Motors’ current design language. It has a dual tone layout with textures on the top and gloss finishes on the centre console. What I like is that it is a mix of dark and light grey. You get a flat bottom steering wheel wrapped in leather that feels really nice to hold. The steering mounted controls are well finished too. The Altroz comes with a semi digital instrument cluster as seen in the Harrier but it is a segment first for sure. The triangle indicator for the tachometer feels a bit odd though. I would prefer a conventional needle. A 7.0 inch touchscreen for the infotainment system sits right on top of the dashboard in the centre and is easy to read. It works well though I did feel a bit of lag when changing audio tracks. Other goodies include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, USB, Bluetooth and a reverse camera. a superb sounding Harman audio system, auto headlamps, auto wipers, ambient lighting and push button start. There’s no shortage of storage spaces either. The cooled glovebox is big and can even store a 13 inch laptop. There are cupholders in the centre console and the adjustable front arm rest has some space as well. The door pads can hold a litre bottle and there is an umbrella holder in there too. Overall the quality of the interiors and material used is good, leave for some plastics here and there.

The front seats are large and offer good comfort. The fabric used on the upholstery is of good quality as well. The adjustable front armrest that I mentioned earlier adds to the support. The rear seat is pretty wide and is set high. It offers a good view out of the window and gets adjustable headrests as well. The flat floor which is a virtue of the ALFA architecture makes seating for three decently comfortable, and there’s a foldable armrest if there are two passengers. The rear also gets dedicated AC vents and a 12V power socket.

Boot space stands at 354 litres and can go up to 665 litres with the rear seat folded down. However, the rear seat doesn’t have the split feature. The boot space feels generous but the loading lip is high.
