Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota, has revealed the facelift model of the Fortuner SUV. This full-size SUV in its updated avatar was unveiled in Thailand. Perhaps one of the most popular offerings of Toyota in India, the Fortuner facelift can be expected to make its way here by 2021. This SUV competes with the likes of the Ford Endeavour, the Mahindra Alturas G4 and the Isuzu MU-X in the Indian market.

Talking about changes, the Fortuner gets revised bumpers at both ends. Upfront, a larger mesh grill and newly designed headlamps complement the revised bumper design. The taillights get a slimmer look for enhanced visual appeal. The side profile remains rather unchanged but the car now gets 18-inch alloy wheels. Toyota also showcased a top of the line variant, dubbed ‘Legender’ which gets sportier design elements including blacked-out bits, redesigned DRLs with progressive indicators and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Changes on the inside include a new 8-inch touchscreen which gets Android Auto and Apple Car Play connectivity. Additionally, the car also gets a powered passenger seat, wireless charging, LED lighting, a JBL audio system of 9-speakers and more. The ‘Legender’ variant gets a larger, 9-inch touchscreen along with 7 airbags and some additional safety features.

Under the bonnet, the Fortuner continues to get the 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre oil burner options in the Thai market. While the smaller, 2.4-litre 2-GD engine is good for 150 PS of power and 400 Nm of twist, the larger engine gets power enhancements. The 2.8-litre 1-GD engine is now tuned to offer 204 PS and 500 Nm. The Indian market is very likely to get this engine options paired with both manual and automatic gearboxes. Additionally, expect Toyota to offer the 2.7-litre petrol motor as well for the Indian model.
