The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE LWB has been launched in India. It is priced at Rs. 73.70 lakh for the GLE300d and Rs. 1.25 crore for the GLE400d Hip Hop Edition. The GLE400d is being sold as a CBU and that is the reason for the high price.

The GLE300d  is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that develops 245hp and 500Nm of torque. The GLE400d is powered by a 3.0 litre six cylinder diesel engine which churns out 330hp and 700Nm of torque. Both engines are BS VI compliant and come mated to a 9 speed automatic gearbox sending power to all four wheels via the 4Matic all wheel drive system

The new GLE gets an aggressively styled front with a new front grille, redesigned LED headlamps with DRLs, new front and rear bumpers and new design tail lamps. The new LWB GLE has an 80 mm longer wheelbase than its predecessor and it is 105 mm longer in overall length. The legroom in the second row has increased by 69 mm over the previous generation. The headroom of the new GLE at the rear has now increased by 35 millimetres as well.  The rear seat also has an inclination angle of 30 degrees along with a fore-aft movement of 100 mm.

Features on the new GLE include the MBUX infotainment system, four zone climate control, dual 12.3 inch screens for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, powered tail gate and blind sport monitor.

The GLE400d gets the E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL suspension, which is now combined with the newly developed AIRMATIC air suspension. In this system, the spring and damping forces can be individually controlled at each wheel.

The car maker announced that the GLE300d has been sold out till March 2020. Mercedes is also set to launch their first EV in India, the EQC in April 2020 as part of the EQ sub brand.
