French car maker Citroen has unveiled the Ami, a fully electric quadricycle aimed at city use. The Ami was first revealed as the AMI ONE concept at the Geneva Motor Show 2019.

The Ami features a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery thats mounted flat below the floor. It can be fully charged in 3 hours via the on board cable plugged into a conventional 220 V socket. The Ami can also be charged at public terminals or a Wall Box charger. It has a range of upto 70 kms.

Dimensions wise the Ami is 2.41m long, 1.39m wide and 1.52m high with a turning diameter of 7.20 m. It features specially designed 14 inch wheels mounted at each corner. The headlamps and indicators are in a double decker signature layout. It gets manually adjustable rear view mirrors. 

The doors open in the opposite direction with the hinge mounted at the rear for the driver’s door and at the front for the passenger door. On the interior, the Ami has a large glass area and a panoramic roof which is standard. The windows open manually tilting upwards just like the classic Citroen 2CV. The Ami has a two seat layout sliding adjustment for the driver’s seat in terms of length. The passenger seat remains fixed. The entire cabin is heated as well. There are loads of customisation options for the Ami which comprise of wheel covers, body, quarter light and roof stickers, or capsules. The instrument cluster features a chequered pattern. There is a dedicated space to the right of the steering wheel which doubles up as a main dashboard display screen giving access to navigation and music. 

The Ami comes with a number of accessories that can be installed your self. These include central separation net, a door storage net, mat, storage tray on the top of the dashboard, small hook for a handbag, smartphone clip, DAT@MI box (dongle device) connected to the My Citroën app.

The Ami does not require a driving license. It can be rented, used on a sharing basis or can be bought for less than 7,000 Euros. Whats more it can be bought online and will be delivered to you home as well.

There is no indication if the Ami will come to India but with its range, it seems to be the ideal city runabout for our roads.
