December 31st was a free day as the main event, the New Year’s Eve party in the sand dunes would only be happening in the evening. Me and Rohit along with our friends Sanchit and Sachet took the Bolero Neo and the XUV700 and went out exploring nearby and spent some time clicking pictures. Post that we thought of heading to one of the local cafes for lunch, but returned to the hotel instead. Grabbed a quick lunch and went back to our rooms for a nice and long afternoon siesta.
We gathered in the hotel lobby at 8 pm where we boarded two buses to take us to the dunes. We started off after 8.30 and proceeded to the party venue. As we got off the main road, it was pitch black all around and soon there was a light in the distance. It was party time. The Adventure team along with Madanji and crew were already ready to welcome us. And what a setup it was. A dance floor with disco lights right in the centre surrounded by the dunes. A Scorpio, Thar and the Getaway parked on top, bonfires, and seating.
The party started off with a couple of traditional dance performances after which the dance floor was thrown open. Everyone started shaking a leg to the tunes put out by the DJ. The food was fabulous and our bar tender put in a performance of his own. I have to say that this is the most awesome New Year party I have ever experienced. The chilly weather was the cherry on top. As we brought in 2022 at the stroke of midnight, we cut a huge cake and reflected back on the amazing trip we had over the past week. This was followed by the vote of thanks. A few of us returned back to the hotel in one bus later. The others continued to party for a while more. But this celebration was the perfect way to end this wonderful trip.
