Dutch media has learnt from sources close to Ferrari that the Spider version of the 488 GTB will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motorshow coming September. We had earlier posted photos and a video of the prototype doing the rounds outside the Maranello factory. The new car will most likely be called the 488 GTS.

Like the coupe, the Spider will come with the 3.9 litre V8 twin turbo engine putting out 670 horsepower and 760 Nm torque. The Spider should be close to the coupe in terms of performance which goes from 0 to 100 kph in 3 seconds with a top speed of 330 kph. The convertible should be slightly shy of these figures.

Ferrari is reportedly also working on hardcore 488 GTB Scuderia which will be lighter and more powerful than the standard car along with aggressive styling. There is no confirmed date as to when this version will hit the roads.
