The Land Rover Discovery Sport will get JLR’s new 2.0 litre Ingenium diesel engine replacing the current 2.2 litre unit that was also seen in the now discontinued Freelander 2. The Ingenium engines will be offered in two states of tune: 148bhp and 178bhp. They will be badged as TD4 150PS and TD4 180PS, respectively.

The Discover Sport TD4 150PS will be the most efficient model in the Discovery lineup and will blue sport badging to highlight the same. It will get low rolling resistance tyres to aid fuel economy and will get 18 inch alloy wheels. It will come as a five seater only while the other variants will come in a 5+2 configuration. The 150PS will get a six speed manual gearbox only while the 180PS models will have a choice of either a six speed manual or a nine speed automatic gearbox.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be launched in India later this year in the HSE trim only and will be assembled at JLR’s Pune plant. The SUV will initially come with the 2.2 litre diesel engine in two states of tune: 187bhp and 147bhp. The Ingenium engines should make their way into the Discovery Sport in India at a later stage.
