Mahindra XUV700 Ride & Handling

The XUV 7OO has tremendous improvements in this department. The XUV 5OO was a monocoque and so is the XUV7OO. But this monocoque is 80 percent stiffer, claims Mahindra. The 7OO gets independent front suspension with Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) and stabilizer bar, a multi link suspension with FSD and stabilizer bar at the rear. All this translates to very comfortable ride and superior handling dynamics.  The overall grip is good and can corner quite well. It can easily handle change of directions with minimal body roll. The steering is light at slow speeds and adds weight as the speed increases. This makes maneuverability easy at any speeds. We never felt the car was uncomfortable at any time even on the High Speed Track at the  Mahindra Facility. We were able to sustain high speed without any drama.

All-Wheel Drive will be available in Diesel AT only. We also tested AWD capabilities and the results were impressive. It will be fun to test out in real world conditions like rain, mud and snow.

Mahindra XUV700 Safety

Safety is of prime importance and manufacturers are aware of this fact. We have seen lots of new safety features added to raise the bar. Well, Mahindra raised the bar up few notches. Mahindra XUV 7OO will get 7 Airbags including a curtain airbag and driver knee airbag. These 7 airbags also cover the third row occupants. ABS and EBD is standard and very effective in all type road conditions. We tested both on simulated road surfaces that resemble ice and snow and it worked very well.

These are standard safety features but what raised the bar high are Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which includes Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Brakes. With the use of a Camera and Radar, the XUV700 will warn of possible collision. Not only this, ADAS also features Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Smart Pilot Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Driver Drowsiness Detection System, High Beam Assist, Auto Booster Headlamps and many more.

We tested theADAS three times to make sure we were satisfied with the results. It’s not a complicated system but we have very sure on how to use the system. A cool new feature is a voice warning by your loved one to remind you to slow down. We give full marks to Mahindra to introduce revolutionary safety features.

We will be coming out with an article with videos explaining and showing real world use of ADAS. Watch this space..
