I remember the time way back in the 80s growing up in Dubai when my Dad introduced me to a baby Mercedes-Benz sedan or Limousine. The young 7 year old me was wondering how could a Mercedes-Benz be small (after being used to seeing big Benz cars everywhere), and then Dad took me to see the 190 E at a special preview. Cut to 2021 and there is a new baby Mercedes-Benz sedan. This is the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine that is set to launch in India on March 25th and it replaces both, the A-Class hatchback and the CLA sedan on our shores. I went to sunny Goa to spend some time with and drive around this new three pointed star. Here are my first impressions.

Mercedes A-Class Limousine Exterior

Mercedes-Benz India has said that 53 percent of their sales in 2020 came from sedans (limousines) and the car maker is looking to up those numbers with the A-Class Limousine. Coming to the design, the A Limo features the new styling language of the current gen Mercedes cars. The face gets a large front grille with a thick horizontal slat and large Star logo. The all LED headlamps look sharp and feature boomerang style daytime running lamps. The bonnet is raised and has cuts on either side that extended to the grille, while the front bumper  has scoops that house faux air intakes. The A Limo measures 4549 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2729 mm. On the side, there are 17 inch alloy wheels that are aerodynamically designed. While the front windshield is raked, the roof is tall and the C-Pillar slopes down into a short boot. The long bonnet, short roof design gives the car a slight coupe-ish design. I would have loved frameless doors though. A prominent crease line runs across the shoulder from the front end to the tail, while another character line runs along the bottom of the doors. At the rear, the boot lid tapers upwards giving the impression of a spoiler. The large wrap around LED tail lamps get prominent arrow design elements that look quite stylish. The rear bumper has more of a subtle styling and it gets the trademark chrome faux exhaust tips on either side. Overall, the exterior is pretty balanced in terms of design and I really liked the compact dimensions of the car. The A- Class Limousine also holds the record for the lowest drag coefficient for any production car at 0.22cd. Mercedes will be offering the A-Class Limousine in a single fully loaded Progressive variant.
