Mercedes A-Class Limousine Interior

The front doors open wide and once you step inside, you are greeted by a cabin that is unmistakably Mercedes. The interior features a black and beige theme that add a very airy feel to the insides. There is open pore walnut trim on the dashboard and the door pads that feels very premium. There are two 10.25 inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and the MBUX infotainment system. The three spoke steering wheel has a nice feel and is equipped with touch pads and controls for various functions. Also notice how different the gear lever mounted behind the steering wheel is. It is much thinner than what you see in other Mercedes cars but still feels great as far as quality is concerned. Ditto for the wiper stalk. But my favourite part of the interior are those turbine style chrome AC vents that look super cool. And its nice that there are a set of physical buttons below the AC vents in these times where buttons are become history and everything is going on to the touchscreen. The infotainment system can also be controlled by the touchpad on the centre console. Other features include 64 colour ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charger, 5 USB C ports, dual zone climate control, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and a large panoramic roof. The sound quality from the audio system is decent but not in the league of the Burmester systems seen in the bigger Mercedes cars.

Coming to the seats, the ones up front aren’t particularly large but are adequately comfortable and snug you in place. The front seats come with electric adjust as well as memory function. The rear seat is always important in a luxury sedan because most like to be chauffeur driven and that’s where the A Limo impresses. There is no shortage of legroom and know room that’s to the longer wheelbase and the tall roof ensures that headroom is in abundance. I would have liked a little more under thigh support though. The backrest recline angle is also good and you get an armrest as well. Boot capacity stands at 405 litres in the petrol model and 395 litres in the diesel (thanks to the AdBlue tank). Also, as the car we drove was a CBU, the spare wheel was mounted on the boot floor. The Mercedes-Benz India team told us that the locally produced model will have the spare in the wheel well below the boot floor.

Mercedes A-Class Limousine MBUX, Mercedes Me Connect

The A Limo comes with the latest gen of the MBUX with Mercedes Me connected car tech. The system also features Google and Alexa Home integration which can be used via the ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice assistant. The smartphone app comes with a number of functions like service reminder, geo fencing, remote lock unlock, open/ close sunroof, valet protect, trip data vehicle health, vehicle stats etc. The system worked well for most of the time but there were instances where the system would not understand a voice command for navigation and the Bluetooth would disconnect abruptly on its own. That said, the system is easy to use and the graphics are crisp. The smartphone app interface is easy to understand as well.
