I have driven this engine is lower state of tune in the Thar, but in the XUV700, its just something else.

Its  going to be almost a year since the Mahindra XUV700 made its market debut. And to say that it has been a blockbuster would be an understatement. The waiting list is miles long today and that itself shows the effect this new SUV has had on buyers. Something similar was witnessed a decade ago with the XUV500 but its successor has taken it the next level. I didn’t get a chance to drive the car at the media drive last year, but the friendly guys at Mahindra made it a point to send me every variant of the XUV700 for me to sample. So while I would not put down a regular review since we already have one, I thought it would be a good time to pen my thoughts on my why I feel this new XUV is a paisa vasool package?

One look at the XUV700 and you can see how far Mahindra has come as a passenger car maker. I have lived my childhood years and teens with the Commanders and Armadas of those times. And how things have changed. You wouldn’t be able to tell it’s a Mahindra at first glance. It might seem to be an evolution of the XUV500 but that’s far from it. The XUV700 take Mahindra into a new era and the new Twin Peaks logo is the first step. This is the first model to sport the new logo and sits perfectly with the 3D design front grille. The C shaped DRLs integrated with the headlights give the XUV700 its character and are neatly merged with the front bumper. The arrowhead tail lamps get sequential indicators and they look quite cool especially at night. I can say this as I was following a bunch of XUVs during the Mahindra Adventure Royal Escape that I attended in December 2021. Another highlight are the pop out smart door handles and these are standard across all variants. And there are 17 and 18 inch alloy wheel options available as well. And last but not the least, a tailgate made of composite materials for safety. To sum it up, the XUV700 is quite a standout and moreso in the new Electric Blue paint shade. That’s the colour I would have mine in.
