Its quite an eerie feeling in the EQE500 especially when there is no noise in the surroundings either.

The EV space in India is hotting up and its not just the mass market segment. Luxury EVs are also making their strong presence felt with Mercedes-Benz being a front runner. After the EQS and EQB, the three pointed star brings their third offering to the Indian market. Why third? Because the first EV that the brand launched, the EQC has been discontinued. And now this here is the Mercedes EQE500 SUV. And we get it in the fully loaded EQE500 4Matic guise. For the record there is also the EQE sedan available in the global markets. So what’s the EQE SUV all about? I got to drive it around beautiful Gulmarg in Kashmir, the perfect backdrop to drive this green star.

Mercedes EQE500 Exterior

The Mercedes EQE is a born electric product. Based on the Mercedes’ Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA), the design reeks of aerodynamics with smooth lines running across from front to back. Everything from the LED headlamps (which have 1.3 million pixels each), tail lamps etc. blends with the shape of the car. The large grille panel upfront features a large logo and with little stars. One look at it and you know that the EQE is part of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family. The design shares a lot of similarities with its electric stablemates. The EQE SUV measures 4,863 mm in length, 2,141 mm in width, 1,685 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm, which is the longest in its class. The EQE gets 20 inch alloy wheels with 255/45 tyres. The side step feels a little out of place because the EQE is pretty easy in terms of ingress and egress without it. The rear feature sleek LED tail lamps connected by a light bar. Overall the EQ looks more of a crossover than an outright SUV. Colour options include Obsidian Black, Sodalite Blue, Emerald Green, Velvet Brown, High-Tech Silver, Selenite Grey, Polar White, MANUFAKTUR Diamond White Bright and MANUFAKTUR Alpine Gray Solid.
