French Automaker Renault means to launch its new car, the Triber, in the MPV segment. The car has been often spied doing rounds under camouflage, and Renault recently confirmed that the car would be launched in the second half of the year, probably around Diwali.

The car sits on a modified version of Renault’s CMF-A platform that underpins the Renault Kwid.

For starts, the car will get petrol powertrain options only. It remains to be seen if it will be a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated or a 1.0-litre turbocharged motor. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be on offer. The car is purported to be rigid and safer, with features like ABS, EBD, dual airbags, speeding alert and seatbelt reminders being offered as standard. The design of the car is also unique, due to which it is difficult to categorise it into a particular segment. It is claimed that the cabin will be spacious owing to the long wheelbase and short overhangs. The spy shots have revealed heavy plastic cladding, roof rails and LED DRLs amongst other things. We expect the cabin to be feature loaded too.

The car will slot between the Kwid and the Duster and will likely retail in the INR 6-8 lakh range. It is poised to go up against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Datsun GO+.
