Tata Tigor EV Electric Motor & Performance

The 26 kWh battery produces approx. 75 horsepower with 170 Nm of torque. There are two drive modes – D for Drive and S for Sport. The D Mode conservatively drips the battery. This mode is ideal for city conditions. Whereas, the Sport mode uses the full 75 horses, best to be used on highways or to overtake. The response from the motor in Drive mode is very linear but switches personality when shifted to Sport at the cost of the battery percentage though. The motor regenerates energy but its on a milder side. There are no regen modes due limitations of the motor capacity.

The battery gets IP67 certification and complies with AIS – 048 standard for nail penetration at Cell Level. Tata claims an ARAI certified range of 306 kms. We drove the car in real world conditions with a mix of traffic and highway run and found the ideal range to be 190-200 kms. For city driving, the 200 kms mark seems fine but on a highway it sure will increase range anxiety. We did not alter our driving pattern to extract more range, in fact we drove it as a normal car.
