The Toyota Fortuner facelift has been launched in India at prices starting at Rs. 29.98 lakh and going up to Rs. 37.58 lakh ex showroom Delhi. The current gen Fortuner has been around in the Indian market since 2016. Changes to this updated Fortuner are more that skin deep and not merely cosmetic.

The 2021 Fortuner gets a new front grille, restyled LED headlamps with daytime running lamps, reworked front bumper, new design 18 inch alloy wheels and new slim LED tail lamps.

On the interior, it gets a new 8.0 inch touch screen featuring Android Auto and Apple Carplay. There are ventilated front seats, contrast stitching on the upholstery, a 11 speaker JBL sound system, front parking sensors and a 360 degree camera.

Toyota has also launched the ‘Legender’ variant of the Fortuner that is priced at Rs. 37.58 lakh ex showroom Delhi. This varint gets a split front grille, quad LED headlamps, dual tone black roof, Pearl White exterior paint only, Diamond cut 18 inch alloy wheels, black and maroon interiors and hands free tail gate opening function.

The Toyota Fortuner facelift comes with the choice of a 2.7 litre petrol engine and a 2.8 litre diesel motor. The petrol engine puts out 166 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque mated to either a 6 speed manual or 6 speed automatic gearbox.

The performance difference is in the diesel. The engine now makes 204 horsepower with 420 Nm torque in the manual variant, while it makes 500 Nm in the automatic variant. The Fortuner comes with a 4×4 system with low range. The Legender however is only available in 4×2 along with the diesel engine and automatic grarbox.

The Toyota Fortuner rivals the Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and the MG Gloster in the Indian market.
