Jeep has introduced an updated version of the Compass SUV in Europe. The Euro spec Compass is produced at the FCA plant in Melfi, Italy and now comes with a new engine and a new gearbox.

The 2020 Compass for the European market now gets a 1.3 litre turbo charged petrol engine that is available in two states of tune, 130 hp with a six speed manual gearbox, or 150 hp mated to a six speed dual clutch automatic (DCT). Torque is same for both tunes at 270 Nm.  Both variants are front wheel drive. There is also a Sport mode that comes with the Turbo petrol engine. An updated version of thr 120 hp 1.6 litre Multijet diesel is also available.

New features include new Uconnect Services for improved on-board and off-board connectivity, new  six different wheel designs (one specific for each trim and exclusive 19-inch Gloss Black wheels for the Night Eagle model) and five new exterior paints: Ivory Tri-Coat, Colorado Red, Blue Italia, Blue Shade and Techno Green Metallic – all of which can be offered in combination with a black roof. The new tonneau cover is also available on all versions.

A plug-in model the 4xe is expected in the second half of the year. This will feature an electric motor mated to the turbo petrol engine which will come in 190 hp an 240 hp guises.This will be a 4×4 model only.

It will be interesting to see if the 1.3 turbo petrol males its way into the Indian spec Compass to replace the 1.4 unit. An updated Compass is expected to launch in India sometime in 2021.
