When you say sports sedan, you think BMW 3-Series. That’s the kind of reputation the car has built over the years. If you wanted to buy a luxury sedan to self drive it was the 3. That said, a majority of luxury sedan buyers are those who like to be chauffeured around. And the 3-Series never quite made the cut when it came to the back seat. But now BMW wants to get you covered for that as well. This is the BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine. It comes with a longer wheelbase than the regular 3-Series sedan and will offer more legroom and space to the rear passengers. But will that compromise on the fun to drive factor that the 3-Series is known and loved for? Lets find out.

BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine Exterior

The 3-Series Gran Limousine (code G28) is based on the G20 3-Series sedan. Look at it from the front there is nothing to distinguish it from the regular car. Our test car was the 320Ld in Luxury trim. Up front you get the trademark BMW kidney grille with chrome surrounds. There are slim LED headlamps while the front bumper has a blackened out centre section. It is when you move to the side is where you see the difference. BMW has increased the wheelbase by 110 mm, which now stands at 2961 mm. Overall length of the car has increased to 4819 mm. The rear doors are also longer by 110 mm and even though the car’s length has increased, the design looks well proportioned and not out of place. The Luxury trim gets multi spoke 17 inch alloy wheels that looks classy and is quite a nice design. The rear features LED tail lamps and rectangular exhaust tips. And don’t miss the 320Ld badging on the boot, L being the highlight here. The long wheelbase 3-Series was developed specifically for the Chinese market and India the first country apart from China to get the longer 3-Series and that too in right hand drive configuration.
