Ford Mustang GT Handling and Safety

The Mustang now comes with an all independent suspension setup. This has given the car very compliant ride quality. Even with the 19 inch alloy wheels, the car soaks in the pot holes and bad patches of road nicely. Handling is decent but there is a good amount of body roll going around corners. The Mustang is not really a track car anyway. But it can go sideways and how. It can slide its tail out at any given corner. Massive thrills guaranteed. There’s 137 mm of ground clearance but though that feels low on paper, its quite adequate. The Stang did not scrape any of the speed breakers that we went over.

Safety feature on the Mustang include eight airbags, ABS, ESP, Hill Launch Assist, Traction Control, ISOFIX Child seat mounts, rear parking sensors and a rear view camera.

Ford Mustang GT Verdict

The Ford Mustang is a standout among the sea of sports cars available in India. Yes, it doesn’t have the high quality fit and finish that is seen in the Europeans and handling isn’t the best. But that’s not what you buy the Mustang for. You buy it for the icon that it is, that proper naturally aspirated V8 engine under the hood and its tail happy nature. And it can cruise effortlessly over long distances as well as do just as well in daily city driving. Plus, it does come with a lot of equipment. At almost Rs. 75 lakh ex showroom, it is not cheap when you compare it to its global pricing. But if you think the other way, there is no other sports car out there that gives you so much for that price.  The feeling of owning American muscle with a big V8 heart is enough reason to get one.
