British carmaker Morris Garages is all set to begin its India innings, as bookings for its debutante, the Hector open on June 4 2019.

The car is being manufactured locally in Halol, Gujarat. The distribution shall be handled by 120 touchpoints pan India, and MG plans to increase its footprint to over 250 centres spread across 50 cities, with bookings being handled wither online on in person.

The MG Hector was unveiled recently and has taken the market by storm because of its bold styling and many first in segment features such as the iSmart connected car capability. It is available in 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine options. Also available is a 48V mild hybrid variant that uses battery power to improve the efficiency of the vehicle while reducing emissions.

MG Motors is pursuing aggressive localisation, and the Hector is poised to go up against the likes of the Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Tucson.
