The Skoda Kodiaq did try to fill in the void left when Skoda India bid adieu to the wonderful and compact Yeti SUV. However, the Indian market continued to crave for a smaller SUV from the renowned Czech car manufacturer. It seems that the needs will now be met. Say hello to the new Skoda Karoq, which was launched in the Indian market today along with the facelifted Superb and Rapid 1.0 sedans. The all-new Karoq comes with a potent powertrain and class-leading features, all wrapped up in a single variant which demands an ex-showroom price tag of INR 24.99 Lakh.

Just like all new Skoda models from now on, the Karoq too will be offered with a powerful yet economical petrol, TSI motor. With a capacity of 1.5-litres, this motor is tuned to offer 150 PS of peak power along with a twisting force of 250 Nm. This motor will send power to the front wheels via a seven-speed, lightning-quick DSG gearbox. The car will reach a top speed of 202 kmph and sprint to 100kmph from a standstill within 9 seconds. Skoda will not offer a manual or a 4×4 variant of the Karoq.

On the outside, the car will come with features like cornering fog lamps, chrome surrounds on the grille, LED tail lamps, dual-tone 17-inch wheels roof rails and some more. Moving to the inside, you would first notice the aluminium scuff plates, with the interior lit up with one of the ten ambient colour lighting to choose from. Other features on the inside include the virtual cockpit, touch enable infotainment screen, an electric panoramic sunroof, electric adjustment for the driver seat, cruise control, automatic headlamps and wipers, two-zone automatic climate control and some more. The boot offers class-leading space, with a capacity ranging between 521 litres to 1630 litres with all seats down.

Safety, just like any Skoda, is of utmost priority in the Karoq, with features like 9 airbags, drivers fatigue alert, rough road package, tyre pressure monitoring system, AFS, ABS, ESC, EBD and the works. A total of six colour options will be available with the car, which are – Candy white, Magnetic Brown, ava Blue, Magic Black, Brilliant Silver and Quartz Grey. The car would be up against the likes of the new Jeep Compass and the Volkswagen T-Roc.
