After having scored 5 stars for the Nexon compact SUV in the Global NCAP safety tests, Tata Motors have repeated the feat with the Altroz, just days before launch. The Altroz has also scored 5 stars in the Global NCAP test making it the second Tata car to get this score.

Coming to the tests themselves, the Altroz went through a front offset crash test as well as a side-impact test. The combined evaluation of both the tests by Global NCAP have resulted in a full 5-star rating. Altroz has also achieved a notable 3-star for child occupant safety.

The Altroz is the first Tata vehicle to be based on the new ALFA platform. Power comes from a 1.5 litre diesel engine developing 90 hp and 200 Nm torque and a 1.2 litre three cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that puts out 86 hp and 113 Nm torque. Both engines are BS VI compliant and come mated to a 5 speed automatic gearbox.

The Tata Altroz will launch on January 22nd, 2020. Prices are expected to be in the Rs. 5 to 8 lakh range.
