Tata Nexon EV Interior

There are subtle changes to the interior as well. The dashboard layout is similar to the pre-facelift Nexon but the blue highlights and accents add a freshness to the cabin. There is a new flat bottom steering wheel from the Altroz and the Nexon EV gets a semi digital instrument cluster. It has a colour display and shows a host of information like battery range, charing status, a graphic showing power and regeneration etc. A ‘JLR’ style rotary gear selector replaces the conventional gearstick. It isn’t the slickest to use and is a bit slow to respond though. The seats get new fabric with contrast blue stitching. The top end XZ+ Lux gets features like light beige leatherette upholstery, auto headlamps, auto wipers and an electric sunroof. The 8 speaker Harman sound system is fantastic. Seat comfort has been a virtue of the Nexon and it is the same case in the EV. Boot space of 350 litres is adequate.

Tata Nexon EV Connected Features

The Nexon EV now comes with 35 connected features via the newly introduced Z Connect app. Features exclusive to the EV include remote monitoring of the current charge levels, available range, charging history, nearest charging stations etc. Other features of the Z Connect include remote lock/ unlock, precook function for the cabin, location based services, finding the nearest service station, geo fencing, crash notifications, panic notifications and an emergency SOS etc.

Tata Nexon EV Battery and Electric Motor

Now comes the most interesting part. So what powers the Nexon EV? It comes with a permanent magnet motor that is combined with a 30.2 KWh liquid cooled lithium-ion battery pack. The ’T’ shaped battery pack is placed under the car’s floor and is protected by a steel casing. The Nexon EV develops 129 hp and 245 Nm of torque, with a claimed 0 to 100 kph timing of 9.9 seconds. Top speed of the Nexon EV is limited to 120kph. The battery is also compliant with IP67 standards which means it is water resistant up to 1 metre for upto 30 minutes. What’s more it has an AIS 48 rating that includes safety tests like nail-penetration up to the cell level, crush test, fire pond test, overcharge protection, shock and short protection. For complete peace of mind, Tata Motors is offering an 8 year/1,60,000 km warranty on the battery pack as well as the electric motor.
