2021 Tata Safari Ride, Handling and Off-road

Tata has worked on the suspension of the Safari and it shows. The softer setup gives it a very comfortable ride and the SUV just flies over potholes, undulations and bad roads. The Safari feels pretty planted for an SUV when going around corners too. Yes there is body roll but it is well controlled for its size. The steering does feel on the heavier side at parking speeds but weighs up well when driving on the highway. The Safari gets an all disc brake setup, braking is efficient but you do feel the weight of the car. High speed stability of the Safari is excellent.

So now coming to an important point. Will the new Tata Safari take you to the road less travelled for those ‘Reclaim Your Life’ adventures? Well not as extreme as the older Safari did. That’s because it comes with a front wheel drive layout as opposed to its predecessor that came with 4×4. You do however get Terrain Response modes like Wet and Rough road. These along with the high ground clearance should be sufficient to tackle mild off-road trails. Tata Motors says that the Safari platform is 4×4 ready and they will look at offering a 4×4 option if there is a market demand.
