The 2023 GLC has a very classy stance and looks more luxurious than before like its bigger stable mates.

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC Engine & Performance

The new GLC is offered with 4 cylinder petrol and diesel engines with hybrid tech in both. The 2.0-litre petrol makes 258 horsepower and 400Nm of torque, plus an additional 23 hp and 200Nm boost from the hybrid system. On the other hand the diesel puts out 197hp and 440Nm of torque, plus an additional 23hp and 200Nm boost from the ISG (Integrated starter generator). Our test car was the GLC300 petrol for this drive.

The GLC300 does a 0 to 100 in a claimed 6.2 seconds. The engine doesn’t feel urgent when you push the pedal but has very smooth linear acceleration. There is ample power on tap when you to get a move on. The best part is you don’t feel a lag at any point. The engine also has a sporty not when driving at higher rpms.  Shifts from the 9 speed automatic gearbox are smooth and the 4Matic all wheel drive system comes as standard. There are multiple driving modes on offer that include Eco, Comfort and Sport. There is also an additional off-road mode where the ground clearance can be raised by 20mm.

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC Ride & Handling

Ride quality is on the firm side and bigger undulations will filter into the cabin. The 19 inch alloys also play a part here. On the other hand, the steering feels meaty and it is fun putting the GLC through twisted roads and corners. Body roll is very well controlled and the GLC grips the road well. The steering doesn’t feel overly light either and offers good feedback.
